How the kitchen cabinet run calculator works

The usable run is the wall length minus the gaps you leave for freestanding appliances. Dividing that by the cabinet unit width and rounding down gives the number of whole units that fit, and the remainder is the filler-panel width needed to close the run neatly against a wall or appliance.
